Why go BETA CHI THETA?
1. Brotherhood=friends for eternity
For the past 200 years, fraternities have
provided college men a "home away from home". As brothers work
toward common goals, and enjoy campus life together, friendships and relationships
are formed that last forever.
Brotherhood is the foundation of Beta Chi
Theta.
2. Leadership Opportunities
Beta Chi Theta provides you with the opportunity
to be involved in leadership positions. Fraternity men are responsible
for the success and expansion of their organization. Real life skills
such as managing a budget, running an effective meeting, action plan development,
goal setting, forecasting, and decision making are learned and improved
by being involved in a fraternity. These skills will help you in the future
as you enter the job market.
3. Community Service
A very rewarding aspect of fraternity life
is being involved in service and philanthropy events. Collectively, Beta
Chi Theta donated more than 200 hours of their time to community service
activities in 1999-2000. Working together on such events not only benefits
worthy causes, but also fosters personal growth and greater unity among
the brothers.
4. Alumni: An edge in the job market
The benefits of a fraternity do not end
when you graduate; they continue even when you enter the job market. Every
fraternity fosters alumni interaction. Alumni will provide you with support
and guidance as they help you secure employment in your career path.
5. Gaining an Academic Advantage
The primary purpose of Beta Chi Theta is
to achieve academic excellence. Beta Chi Theta provides academic support
opportunities such as time management workshops, tutoring and mentoring
programs, and established study sessions

A Guide to
Rush
- Basics:
Rush is designed to be fun and relaxed. While the decision to join a
fraternity is an important one, you should feel comfortable enough to
talk with chapters you are considering before making your final
decision. With many fraternities on our campus, there is a place for
everyone, and following the guidelines below will help you find where
you fit best.
Contact Chapters:
Contact fraternities you are interested in over the summer. Summer
is a great way for you to meet the brothers of a chapter in a relaxed
environment without the pressure of getting moved in to your room or
preparing for your first college class. During the rush period,
many of the fraternities are boothing on campus or have open houses for
all rushees.
Getting out There:
Given the size
and diversity of our fraternities, it is recommended you try to rush as
many fraternities as you can around your busy college schedule. Taking a
tour is a great way to make sure you visit every fraternity. By the
third day, narrow your selection to 10 different chapters, and have 5 in
mind that you are really interested in by the fourth day. Think 15-10-5.
Ask yourself the following questions as you rush:
Do I fit in with the lifestyle of the brothers here?
Do I agree with their ideals?
Will I commit my time and energy to make this place better?
Recieving a Bid:
A bid is an official invitation to join a fraternity as an associate
member or pledge. As Rush week goes on, focus on going to events at the
chapters you feel fit you best to show the brothers you are interested.
Generally, the more brothers you meet, the better the fraternity is able
to decide if you would be a good fit. Also, do not be afraid to
ask each chapter how their bid process works and if you are the kind of
member they are looking for.
